In a bizarre crossover event that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the authorized release, "A mysterious meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The narrative features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret cult.

The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Changes

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Bonus Features

Players who finish the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to several artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Addition

This update also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
